The Nichols Accounting Group recently sponsored the winning prize for an awareness campaign for Advocates Against Family Violence (AAFV).
The contest brought attention to the issue of partner violence among teens during the month of February, which is recognized as National Teen Dating Abuse Awareness & Prevention Month. According to the CDC, 22.4% of girls between the ages of 11 and 17, and 15% of boys between the ages of 11 to 17 will experience some level of relationship violence. It is important that teens have a clear understanding of what healthy relationships look like, and what healthy relationship boundaries are, so they don’t allow themselves to become entangled in an abusive situation. The contest helped to inform teens about where to find more information about this subject.
Shane Bauges, AAFV Director of Development says, “Awareness will enable them to better understand what is normal, and what they should expect from one another.”
